Competition of Illustrations

The Cultural-Art Organization of Tehran Municipality follows the success of the First World Award of Monotheistic Religions (Poster Competition) by planning the second edition of the Award in the filed of illustrations with the objectives of:
-Creating favorable opportunities for artists of monotheistic faiths to express their ideas and conceptions through artistic mediums.
-Strengthening artistic foundations in monotheistic fields.
-Emphasizing art’s rich capabilities for the expression of religious ideas and teachings.
-Providing suitable grounds for monotheistic approaches in visual arts.

Good and evil destiny
Peace and reconciliation

Applicant artists are required to explain in three lines the ideas behind their works in accordance with their selected themes and paste it on the back of the artworks.

2. Terms of Participation

2.1. Each artist may enter up to three artworks. (Series of related works will be considered as single entries.)
2.2. Artworks must must not exceed A3 dimensions with the smallest side measuring over 20cm.
2.3. There will be no limitation on the execution techniques.
2.4. Artworks should have no passé-partout and should not be pasted on any other surface.
2.5. Each artwork must be submitted along with entry form and a digital image of the artwork in Tif format in A4 dimensions on CD with a minimum of 350 dpi.

3. Selection of Artworks

3.1. A selection committee, comprising Hussein Khosrojerdi, Mohammad Ali Bani-Asadi, Nooreddin Zarrinkelk, Farshid Mesghali, and Mahnoosh Moshiri, will examine the submitted artworks and select a maximum of 50 works for the exhibition. List of the selected works will be announced on Eid-e Fitr, Saturday, October 13, 2007.
3.2. One artwork from each artist may be selected for the exhibition. (Series of related works will be considered as single entries.)
3.3. The selection committee’s decisions are final and indisputable.
3.4. All artists, whose works are selected for the exhibitions, will receive a certificate of participation together with a $ 600 cash prize.
3.5. Prizes will be awarded to artworks which have been proven to be originals.
3.6. Artworks should be dispatched in proper packing to safeguard them against damages. Responsibility for any damage inflected on the artworks during shipment rests with the participants.
3.7. The Award secretariat is entitled to enter the selected artworks at exhibitions held in Iran and other countries.
3.8. Responsibility for establishing the proprietorship of the artworks rests with the participants.

4. Competition and Exhibition Dates

4.1. Deadline for submission of the artworks is Tuesday, October 2, 2007.
4.2. Apart from being posted on the website, the selected artworks will be put on display at Imam Ali Religious Arts Museum for one month, starting on Saturday, December 22, 2007.
4.3. The collection of the selected artworks shall be at the disposal of Imam Ali Religious Arts Museum and the accepted artworks will be published in a catalogue of which one copy will be made available to each artist.
4.4. Artworks put on display in the exhibition will be evaluated by an international jury during the exhibition period and the following prizes will be awarded:
First Prize: Diploma of Honor, World Award Statuette and a $ 7,000 cash prize.
Second prize: Diploma of Honor, World Award Statuette and a $ 5,000 cash prize.
Third prize: Diploma of Honor, World Award Statuette and a $ 3,000 cash prize.
Special Prize of Imam Ali Religious Arts Museum: Diploma of Honor, Museum Statuette and a $ 5,000 cash prize.

4.5. The Award secretariat will cover travel expenses, including accommodations for the principal prize-winners for five days during the exhibition period.
